Her Royal Highness Princess Bajarakitiyabha initiated the royal project entitled “Kamlangjai” (support and encouragement) with the aim to give a helping hand to thse in need of opportunity in the Thai society HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha graciously views that social harmony will only be achieved when everybody realizes their own rights without violating the rights of others. In this regard, the justice process plays a part in promoting the observance of the rights of others. When the justice process is completed, those involved should once again be able to live a peaceful and harmonious life in the society.
However, sometimes the groups of individuals involved in the justice process, be it detainees, probationers or the accused, are not given sufficient opportunity to reintegrate into the mainstream society. As a result, they lack the chance to live a normal life that the “Kamlangjai Project” will help these people to realize that there are still many people willing to render them the opportunity and support their to overcome the obstacles. When one has the opportunity one deserves, one also must respect the rights of others. This will not only reduce the number of repeat offenders and allow the ex-offenders to become good citizens but also promote harmony in the society.
Initially, the “Kamlangjai Project” focused it ‘s activities the group of people is criminal justice who are in need of opportunities, starting with pregnant detainees and detainees ‘s children at women ‘s correctional institutions. Viewing that the detainees ‘s babies are innocent and the pregnant detainees need a special care since they are away from their family ‘s love and care, HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha contributed her private funds and assigned the Thai Red Cross College of Nursing with the collaboration of the Department of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, to improve their quality of life and to educate them on maternal and infant sanitation, the result of which satisfactorily fulfilled the objectives of the Royal Project.
Following the initial success of “Kamlangjai Project” as mention above, HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha graciously advised that the coverage of the Project also be expanded to other groups of people in the justice process who are in need of support in order to create opportunities and the new hope in life which are the significant elements to bring about justice and to support people who once made mistakes to become good citizens in the society. In this regard, HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha assigned the Ministry of Justice to support this project in order to promote the Royal Project and its activities
To support and encourage people who made mistakes and were as a result brought into the justice process and other groups in need of opportunity, to become good citizens of the society
To raise awareness among benevolent people and enable them to join hands in supporting and encouraging the people in need, as HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha has graciously initiated.
To promote the Thai society as the one willing and ready to encourage and provide opportunity to the people who once chose the wrong paths so they can begin the new lives as good citizens of the society.
To disseminate the Royal Initiative of HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha to support and encourage those in need of opportunity.
“Kamlangjai Project” is aimed to supplement, not to duplicate, the work the government agencies have already been implementing. The Royal Project will be achieved by choosing target groups and the most beneficial activities as well as promoting and developing activities the government agencies can ‘t themselves undertake due to the lack of resources. These target groups include female inmates and their children, juvenile delinquents and other groups of under privileged people in the justice process.
Besides encouraging and providing opportunities to these target groups, “Kamlangjai Project” is also aimed to campaign the Thai society to be the one ready to encourage and give opportunity to the people who made mistakes but wish to start their new lives in the society.
